| 1.
Do we get our own fibre back?
Ans: Yes, we guarantee it. 2. Do we have a minimum or maximum? Ans: For rovings, batts and felting we have a minimum of 500 grams (1 lb), for spinning we have a minimum of 4 lbs. We don't really have a maximum. 3. What weights of yarn can we spin? Ans:
The meters are based on fine wool.
4. Do we dye? Ans: We have our own colour charts, but if there is a specific colour needed - all we ask is that a colour sample be sent to us. We can overdye natural colours, but we will never get a true clear colour because the natural colour inhibits the dye colour. 5. How long will it take? Ans: Processing time tends to be seasonal. It also depends on what condition the fibre is in and what processing is needed. 6. How do I get my fibre to you? Ans:
Stuff your fibre into a box along with a letter detailing exactly what
is to be done. Don't forget to include your address and telephone number
where you can be reached during the day. Then put the box in the mail.
This is the easiest and cheapest way to send it.
7. How clean does our fibre have to be? Ans: For greasy wool - we expect to receive a skirted fleece (no manure). For a washed fleece - it can not be tacky. We reserve the right to rewash. For Llama/Alpaca and other exotic fibre - we expect it to be free of coarse vegetation, twigs and bedding (wood chips or shavings). Of course anything moldy or with BUGS, will be boxed back up and the owner will be notified. 8. How long does my fibre have to be? Ans: Fibre has to be a minimum of 2.5 inches and maximum of 6.5 inches (especially for spinning). 9. Do we blend and why would we? Ans: Yes we blend. We blend to create a more appealing roving or yarn, whether it be for colour or texture. Sometimes we have to blend i.e. dog hair, because the main fibre is too short, too fine, or doesn't have elasticity (memory to go back into shape). 10. Do you wind the yarn on cones? Ans: No, we wind the yarn into skeins. Our skeins are 74 inches in circumference. The nicest weight is approximately 100 grams, but this can be determined by the customer. |
