Not only does Rovings have its own line of Polwarth and Polwarth blends of rovings and yarns, but we also process fibre. We will wash, blend, dye, card, spin and felt your fibre to your specifications. We guarantee the return of your fibre.

Washing:    We use a pH balance soap to remove the lanolin or wax from the fibre. Should fibre be sent already washed, it can not contain any wax or grease. We reserve the right to rewash. Tacky fibre will ruin our machines and badly nep the fibre.

Dyeing:We carry a range of solid colours and rainbow dye combinations. We can also dye to your specifications. All we need is a sample of the desired colour.
 
 

Picking/Blending:    All wool and wool/exotic blends must be picked. If you are sending fibre from more than one animal and want it carded together, we recommend that you have it picked to completely blend it together. Depending on the blends, some restrictions apply when blending exotic fibres, certain percentages work better than others.

Carding:    We can card fibre into either rovings or batts. Our rovings are light and airy. Our batts are 24 inches by 72 inches. During the picking and carding stages, we do not oil the fibre, but we do use an anti-static spray. It makes spinning go faster and smoother. It will completely wash out.

Spinning:   We have a 4 spindle mini-mill ring spinner. We are able to spin yarn up to 4 plies. The minimum amount to have spun is 4 lbs of clean fibre. The yarn is put into skeins only. Please call for special blends or exotics.

Felting: Our felting machine creates a felt sheet that is 3 ft. by 4 ft. The machine allows us to make soft felt so that surface design can be applied. It also makes a hard durable felt for things like saddle blankets, household accessories and clothing. Our machine takes a minimum of two 250 gram carded batts.
